Ontario’s regulated online gambling market took in C$416.3 million in gaming revenue in September 2026, up 5% from August and 26% from September 2025, according to iGaming Ontario’s monthly market data. Players wagered C$9.71 billion in cash, almost exactly the August total, while active player accounts rose to 1.413 million, the most since iGaming Ontario’s data begins in April 2022.

The figures were published on October 28 and cover the operators that run online casino, betting and poker sites under agreements with iGaming Ontario. They leave out OLG’s own online gaming and horse racing bets. The numbers are unaudited and in Canadian dollars, and wagers count cash only, not bonuses.

The Month at a Glance

The table compares September with August and with the same month a year earlier.

Gaming revenue here is iGaming Ontario’s non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR): cash wagers plus fees, minus players’ winnings, before operators’ costs. Against September 2025, wagers were up 14%, revenue up 26% and active accounts up 20%. September’s revenue is the second-highest monthly total since the data begins, behind only December 2025.

Ontario Online Casino: 88% of Wagers

Casino games, which in iGaming Ontario’s data include slots, live and computer-based table games and peer-to-peer bingo, remain most of the market. Players wagered C$8.504 billion on casino games in September, 88% of all cash wagers and 3% less than in August. Casino revenue rose 1% from August to C$340.8 million, 82% of the total.

Year on year, casino wagers were up 16% and casino revenue up 23%, from C$7.343 billion and C$277.8 million in September 2025.

Betting and Poker

Betting wagers rose 27% from August to C$1.074 billion, and betting revenue also rose 27%, to C$69.1 million. Betting took 11% of wagers but 17% of revenue. Compared with September 2025, betting wagers were almost flat, up 1%, while betting revenue was up 47%, from C$46.9 million.

Peer-to-peer poker is a small part of the market: C$130 million in wagers and C$6.4 million in revenue in September, up 7% and 14% from August. Poker wagers were down 10% on a year earlier, but poker revenue was up 25%.

Players and Spending

Active player accounts jumped 17% from August to 1.413 million, beating the previous high of 1.365 million set in July 2026. These are accounts, not people: a player with accounts at several operators is counted more than once.

Average revenue per active account is total revenue divided by the number of active accounts. Because accounts grew faster than revenue, it fell 10% from August, to C$295. It was still 5% higher than in September 2025, when it was C$280.

The Third Quarter

From July to September 2026, players wagered C$29.3 billion and the market’s revenue was C$1.226 billion. That is 21% more in wagers and 26% more in revenue than in the same three months of 2025.

Revenue was C$413.6 million in July and C$396.3 million in August, so September was the strongest month of the quarter for revenue. Wagers went the other way: July’s C$9.884 billion is the highest monthly total in the data, while the highest monthly revenue is still the C$425.6 million of December 2025.

What It Means

Ontario’s online market is still growing by double digits a year, with casino games bringing in most of the revenue and betting revenue well up on a year ago. The record number of active accounts points to more players, more accounts per player, or both, at a time when the regulator, the AGCO, has penalized several operators since August. iGaming Ontario publishes these figures every month, and October’s are next.
