A Guide to the Free Classic Online Blackjack Game

If you’re not too familiar with the game of blackjack, give the Classic Blackjack a go. This free-to-play game is the perfect way to get to grips with the hugely popular casino game. It covers all of the game’s basics and should get you used to playing it in next to no time at all.

Getting started

The objective of blackjack is to beat the dealer to 21. It’s a card comparing game where the ace is worth one or 11, face cards are all worth 10 and numbered cards are worth their value.

To start off, choose how much you want to bet with. As this is a free version of the game, you are of course betting with virtual money. There are five differently coloured betting chips, each of a different value (1, 5, 10, 20 and 100). Your bet has to be between 1 and 1,000 chips and you can use any combination of chips. Once you’ve chosen your bet size, simply click on Deal to get the game started.

Playing

At the start of the game you’ll receive a total of two cards and so will the dealer, though one of the dealer’s cards is kept face-down. The total of your hand is added up. If you get 21 and the dealer doesn’t, you win.

If you don't have 21, you’ll have three options available at the bottom of the screen: Hit, Stand and Double Down. Click on Hit to receive an extra card; click on Stand if you don’t want any more cards; click on Double Down and your bet will be doubled, you’ll receive an extra card and you’ll have to Stand on your next move.

The game ends when you have chosen to Stand and the dealer received his complete set of cards or if you go bust (get a hand higher than 21). You’ll see in the centre of the table that the dealer has to stand if their hand is 17 or above and has to hit if their hand is 16 or less.

In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen you’ll see the Chip Stack. This tells you how much virtual chips you have left to bet with. If you run out, simply reload the game and you’ll have a new set of 1,000 chips.
